24 April 2012

The financial services division of Bibby Line Group, Bibby Financial Services (BFS) is one of the world's leading funding providers in the SME market, and has appointed Simon Davies as Global Trade Finance Director.

In his new role Simon will be tasked with providing small and medium-sized businesses around the world with innovative and flexible cross-border funding solutions that link international trade finance products with domestic receivables financing.

With the World Trade Organisation (WTO) predicting that exports will increase by 5.8 per cent in 2012, Bibby Financial Services is focused on playing a pivotal role in supporting the international growth plans of businesses. The company, which has a network of 46 offices in 14 countries across Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific regions, has more than 6,000 clients and finances £6bn of debts around the world.

Simon brings significant international experience to Bibby Financial Services, having spent the last fifteen years in senior management roles at businesses in both developed and emerging markets, including posts with De Lage Landen International (Rabobank) in the Netherlands and Volvo Financial Services in Latin America.

Simon says: "I've joined an expert team at Bibby Financial Services with a track record in providing an impressive range of receivables finance solutions. My aim is to build on this success and show how we can assist SMEs to take advantage of the global market and benefit from trading internationally."

Simon adds: "With economic uncertainty present in so many jurisdictions, SMEs are being encouraged by governments and business associations alike to look further afield to continue their growth. So in addition to providing international trade finance solutions, we will also seek to address the day-to-day concerns and challenges presented to smaller companies doing business overseas.

"Our dedicated in-house multi-lingual business team is able to help firms overcome language, currency, cultural and legal issues, in addition to providing international credit and collections management."

Simon will also support BFS's expansion strategy by looking for opportunities in new growth markets which will add to the growing BFS footprint.

Simon Featherstone, Global Chief Executive of BFS comments: "Simon's appointment is key to our global strategy and fundamental to our purpose of funding and supporting SMEs worldwide. Our growth plans are aggressive and I am greatly looking forward to working with Simon in further strengthening our global proposition."
